lately, i have been making tea- its nature's goldmine. today, riffing off a tumeric drink, i forgot who makes it, i made a tea of yerba mate, brain power mix, and sweet ginger peony. added tumeric, maple syrup, sea salt, lemon, a little raw honey, and a few drops of st johns wort and ginko and drink it hot.

i've been getting those herbs at sun's organic tea & herb which i think might be the best and you can try flower power too.

i'm working at MoMA's print studio tomorrow where there will be a NSK passport service. it reminds me of philip k dick's flow my tears the policeman said where the main character looses his identity and manages to make a hyper realistic passport. in the novel, they pay close attention to the printmaking of the false passport for survival against the poles. anyway, this event is less sci-fi and more bureaucratic - passport office vibe- heres more info :

Fancy claiming citizenship of a state in time? Wednesday–Friday, February 1–3, Print Studio will become IRWIN, NSK Passport Office, New York. NSK, which stands for Neue Slowenische Kunst, or “New Slovenian Art” in German, is a Slovenian political-art organization and “global state in time” that emphasizes the collective over the individual. Formed by three founding groups—IRWIN, Laibach, and the Gledališče sester Scipion Nasice theater group—NSK was conceived to exist “within the framework of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.” The groups encompass various media, including music and theater, and IRWIN is their visual-arts outfit.

NSK was formed in 1984, when Slovenia was a part of Yugoslavia. Concerned with the political unrest in the region at the time, and with issues of national identity, the organization’s projects have often involved remixing aspects and aesthetics of past totalitarian governments with those of utopian and other art movements. NSK states that one of the guiding principles of its work is the recycling of “past symbols, images, and philosophical ideas, particularly those that have been used by governments or other institutions to accumulate and hold power.”

Shortly after Slovenia’s establishment as a separate state in 1992, NSK declared itself to be no longer just an organization, but a state in its own right—quite in line with their interests in the power of the collective. However, instead of existing as a geographic state with territories and borders, NSK declared itself a state in time and spirit. NSK citizenship is granted by holding an NSK passport, which anyone can attain by submitting an application and paying a small fee. The thousands of NSK citizens live everywhere around the world, from Dublin to Taipei to Sarajevo to New York.

NSK may be a “state in time” but that status is not without its physical realities. Despite NSK’s status as a non-territory, or perhaps because of it, NSK passports aided border crossing for a number of Bosnians during the war in 1995. In more recent years, there have been numerous efforts to gain passports, ostensibly through elaborate scams, from people seeking visas. While the passports are not intended to be legal travel documents, many people have sought to utilize the ambiguous status of the NSK State for practical ends. That questionable ambiguity further underscores the complexities of nationalism in a strangely and increasingly interconnected world.

Meanwhile, in the next scene, a young mysterious wild child dances to the beat of the setting sun as the snake charmer plays his song. Who are these lost souls?! One can only find out in Z-Girl and The Snake Charmer by Doniella Davy in collaboration with Daniel Wagner for The Kingsboro Press.

heres a lil review i did on dan and donie's book- put out by kingsboro press. i love the title and the rhythm as you flip through the pages, it's really poetic and gloomy yet tranquil at the same time. z girl is who she is- a mystery, a lost soul, an aspiring actress, gyspy, prostitute, teeanger, hell child, you cant tell, shes kind of all of the above. she can be anyone who you want to be.

in actually, it is donie's little sister and dan and her dressed her up and shot these photos in venice. the snake charmer is this man who plays the flute outside of donie's window in the morning.

here are some images from the fire where we were trapped in a room behind two metal doors with smoke pushing through every crack. the room was a cloudy tinted red from the emergency lights. someone in the floor below had been cooking a pot for like, 1 million hours and left the building. that eventually caught on fire and caused the water heater to combust. i thought i was going to die/ have to climb that ladder.

;D So this is your 1995 – 1998 photo inspiration, what do you like about these pixx?

Words cant even explain how I feel about these pictures, like when I saw them, I was just like OMG this is it! Like this is exactly what ive been looking for to inspire me, like to me they show 90′s adolescence at its purest and almost rawest form which is what I’m all about. I’m actually gonna do a couple of photo shoots inspired by these pictures.

Sick. What are you wearing now?

Lol, well not right now, because I’m wearing house clothes but today I wore a black vintage Nautica pullover sweater, some vintage black track pants you know the ones with the white lines at the side, my black platform combat Dr. Martens that I wear everyday, a black hoodie, my black vintage jeans jacket with a ying yang pin on it, a choker made out of string, my ying yang necklace which I also wear everyday and my vintage baby blue mini Jansport backpack. Lol I wear a lot of shit!

What do you hate right now?

Right now I hate everything! Lol well no actually I always hate everything. But right now I’m really hating the fact that I dont have a boyfriend.

Whats your dream boyfriend like?

Personality: extremely smart but not smarter then me maybe as equally as smart as me, really really funny, totally open minded and free spirited, fun, doesnt give a fuck about what anyone else thinks or says (except me lol).

Style: he has to love the color black and the 90′s as much as I do (duh), and not only except but appreciate my witchyness because its not going anywhere! He definitely has to get me and everything i’m about, he has to love me for me the inside and out,the weird and the normal, he has to have great taste in music as well as clothes but not more then me because that’s weird, he also has to know and love all of the movies I love because im a film fanatic and it would be totally perfect if he laid down and watched movies with me all the time.

What is on your wishlist?
Almost everything from that dELiA*s catalog circa 98′, a lot of baggy everything. Lots of overalls, painter pants, sporty cargo maxi skirts, blue & white or gray & white camo cargos, platform and chunky everything, suede canvas old skool Vans, a blue, green, and black fur coat/ one of those cute 90′s oversized bubble coats, more chokers, dark green and gold/bronze lipstick, lipliner, lots of lil sterling silver hoop earring plus rings, more bindis, basically Willow Rosenberg’s wardrobe from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, mixed with Aaliyah, a little bit of TLC and Lil’ Kim, chola girls, everything Angelina Jolie and her crew wore in Hackers, every Spice Girl except Posh, and of course Gwen Stefani!

How about your favorite moment you experienced this week
My favorite moment this week was when I found these really cool black baggy black cyber/rave looking pants in the mens section at the salvation army, think TLC in the “No Scrubs” video but like a toned down version, there very “Hackers’ish”.

Your favorite moment in history?
When being a REAL skateboarder was an epidemic, like I loved the whole SKATE OR DIE lifestyle I think it was really inspiring and sexy. Theres so many little fags walking around “dressed” as skateboarders instead of actually being a skateboarder. It’s totally annoying. Oh and also I loved the whole Riot Grrrl movement I think that it was just like beyond awesome and empowering, like I love feminism because for me personally it makes me feel proud to be a girl and it makes you feel very confident and comfortable in your skin.

What’s next in your horizon?
Right now im just going with the flow.

last night in tribecca there were swarms of police on broadway. the air was quiet and apocalyptic at 3am. zuccotti park was raided and the cops were dragging protesters down the street. strange night to take a trip. i saw chip and ann on the street. the police lit garbage cans on fire, it was really warm outside. we went back to the studio and looked out the window, we projected each other videos and watched them all night until 5am.

Entering the Carsten Holler Experience at New Museum, I did not know what to expect. After T+ 0:30, I began to experience hand sweat and realized, already, I was about to peak. I thought to myself, what am I getting myself into. I took a step forward to begin my journey through the first floor which I believed must have been the most blissful state. Giant cross sections of various species of psilocybin blew my thoughts into the outer limits. Immediately, the pages of McKenna and Shulgin’s readings breezed through my mind. I could not believe these massive structures. I needed to wander and found myself climbing the staircase of eternity, 3.14ever until finally, the 4th floor. Too many people on the Mirrored Carousel looking at me, our reflections echoed. They were all looking at me and reading my mind, they were all reading my mind and rolling their dilated pupils because mine were dilated too. I had to go. I clenched the arm of a museum guard and he made me sit on a piece of khaki linen and then pushed me. I was winding down the slide into an epileptic strobing room of sedated sea creatures, I think. Major eye romp. I had to take a benzo to chill and awoke with my head in a fish tank and a line of people with crossed arms and upside down faces because they have been wanting to put their head in a fish tank too. Anyways, this experience report is just a synthesized taste. I cannot reveal everything and suggest taking a trip to New Museum, I hear Carsten is a fun gi.

Has skating really lost its soul? No! Putting one foot down, turning it around, and moving forward is 43, the forgotten term for a no-comply, and also the name of a new magazine dedicated to skateboarding. Allen Ying, a New York-based skate photographer and the creator of 43, wanted to make a new kind of skate mag focused on quality photography and the arts. The publication will be large format (about the size of a record) and printed on eco-friendly paper with recycled solvents, making this a 100 percent post-consumer recycled waste magazine. The images will be high-res and vibrant, with the commercial commentary turned off. This autumn, the New Museum will present the first New York survey exhibition of the work of the German artist Carsten Höller (b. 1961, Brussels, lives and works Stockholm). Over the past twenty years, Höller has created a world that is equal parts laboratory and test site, exploring such themes as childhood, safety, love, the future, and doubt. Höller left his early career as a scientist in 1993 to devote himself exclusively to art making, and his work is often reminiscent of research experiments. His pieces are designed to explore the limits of human sensorial perception and logic through carefully controlled participatory experiences.The New Museum’s exhibition will include work produced over the past eighteen years in an immersive, interactive installation choreographed in collaboration with the artist. Höller will actively engage the Museum’s architecture, with each of the three main gallery floors and lobby of the building presenting a focused selection of pieces that demonstrate different experiential dimensions of his work. Functioning as an alternative transportation system within the Museum, one of Höller’s signature slide installations will run from the fourth floor to the second, perforating ceilings and floors, to shuttle viewers through the exhibition as a giant 102-foot-long pneumatic mailing system. The exhibition features a new light installation; disorienting architectural environments; a spectacular mirrored carousel; and a sensory deprivation pool, among others. Also included will be a recreation of Höller’s Experience Corridor, where viewers are invited to undertake simple but affecting tests on themselves.The selected works emphasize the experimental quality of Höller’s work and reveal the complex universe of one of the most significant European artists to emerge in the past twenty years. Höller came to prominence alongside a group of artists in the 1990s including Maurizio Cattelan, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Pierre Huyghe, Philippe Parreno, and Rirkrit Tiravanija who worked across disciplines to re-imagine the experience and the space of art. Höller stands out among this group for the manner in which his installations drew on the history and method of scientific experimentation to destabilize the viewer’s perception of space, time, and the concept of self. In providing this first opportunity for the public here to examine the full scope of Höller’s artistic experiments, the exhibition follows in the New Museum’s long tradition of introducing the most adventurous international artists to an American audience.Carsten Höller’s work is first and foremost concerned with altering our basic assumptions about what we see, feel, and understand about ourselves. Over the years, the artist has employed psychotropic drugs, flashing lights, and architectural alterations to overwhelm viewers with visual stimuli and challenge accepted self-perceptions. For example, the new installation Double Light Corner (2011) uses a sequence of flashing lights to give the viewer the sensation that the space around them is flipping back and forth. Höller also has exhibited a variety of adapted amusement park rides, their speeds slowed until they move almost imperceptibly. His Mirror Carousel (2005) provides riders with a radically different physical experience than the traditional fairground merry-go-round, while at the same time reflecting and illuminating the space surrounding it. In such works, Höller invites us to reconsider the meanings of play and participation. In concert with his giant mushroom sculptures and hyperrealistic sculptures of animals, the artist creates a visionary world that hovers below the surface of what we experience every day.Höller’s art has often taken the form of proposals for radical new ways of living. He has created sculptures and diagrams for visionary architecture and transportation alternatives, like his renowned slide installations and flying cities. These concepts may seem impossible in the present day, but suggest new models for the future. The artist’s proposals and structures invite the viewer to re-imagine the social and sensorial possibilities of domestic space. During the 1990s, Höller collaborated with artist Rosemarie Trockel to create structures shared between humans and animals such as pigs, birds, and mosquitoes, calling into question hierarchies of species and the roles of the observer and the observed. Recently, Höller has invited viewers to share the exhibition space with a variety of creatures from reindeer to canaries to mice.At the New Museum, viewers will be encouraged to test a variety of sculptural experiences. In Höller’s Psycho Tank (1999), visitors will float weightlessly in a sensory deprivation pool, providing a strange out-of-body experience. In these scenarios, as in his other work, Höller treats the viewer as the subject and audience for his radical and disorienting experiments.
